The real truth is in the pickups. There are all sorts of pickups available and each set has its own tone and voicing.
I’ve got a Bandit 112 and a Supreme head, time to throw my EBS Dynaverb in the effects loop and give them a try. So your eq settings are Low:6 Mid:Max High:7?
AM 2000 for me. It sounds…well… rounder? Difficult to express with words. Beautiful playing btw.
Show....
Classical guitarists are among the best sight readers I know. Your second reason is, indeed, a serious consideration for the guitarist. I present this to my students as both an challenge, and an asset -- you have multiple options for getting the sound you want. This issue, by the way, is not exclusive to the guitar. There are at least four different fingerings for playing a 1st line Eb on clarinet, for example. Yet most clarinetists learn to read notation without major problems. As regards tab, that is part of the myth -- that learning tab is easier than learning notation. It isn't, really. I read both; it took about the same amount effort to learn each. Tab has its place -- it shows you specifically where to play a passage (although you give up your options for that convenience). But tab is crappy for showing complex rhythms -- standard notation is much better for that. Guitar is more of a "pop" instrument than many others, and you don't necessarily need notation or theory to play in a pop setting -- say, strumming chords for people singing at a party. For that matter there are plenty of pop keyboardists who never learn to read, as well. But I think your first reason is probably the main reason -- the myth. If you tell someone over and over that they can't do something, eventually they'll start to believe you. But learning notation is not that difficult. Really.
Hi from Germany😊
Super Sound. Great 🎸🎸🎸🎸👍👍👍👍
Hi Wesley from Germany.
Whats the sound setup, amp, pedals...? Sounding great... ❤
Yes sir!
Thanks so much for checking it out, Will!
Ben you're a beast. AM2000H for me and I have already started saving but your demonstration is flawed because you make both guitars sound so good. RESPECT from Ireland ☘🍉
Cool😊

Both sound and look amazing
Freddy from Idaho!
I have 2000 mfg. AS200, MIJ, and it is perfect and a beauty. Put a Seth Lollar in the neck though. Does it all, comfortably!
I love jumbo frets too much and can't go back. I wish there was an Ibanez like this, but with jumbos.
Great instrument. Is it a custom shop?
Beautiful.
What if I said your style of playing is not the most optimal for exploiting all of the voices that a strat can be made to produce
Then you'd certainly be entitled to that opinion! But I would suggest that you first check out all of the recordings I played on (between 2015-2020) using this guitar for lead, rhythm guitar, jazz improvisation and more - across a wide variety of styles. Thanks for watching! 😀
I've found the bridge Super 58 to sound a bit 'quacky' if you see what I mean. Just isn't my thing but in the middle position with the tone rolled off it sounds great
Fair observation! I occasionally roll the tone off on the bridge pickup too, depending on whether I want a little less treble. Thanks for watching! 😀
I’ve owned an Ibanez LR-10 from new…still plays great, still sounds AMAZING. Play with D’Addario 10-46’s for me…perfect!
Absolutely! The LR-10 was built incredibly well - all of those 80s Ibanez guitars were among the best guitars ever made.
both good... what should i choose!? 😭
They are both great! 😀
If so then its all guitar in general
I just wish they keep the old f-hole shape.
Fair enough! I love both - the vintage 70s/80s f-hole shape and the more modern shape 😀
Really tasty playing. I totally agree with your EQ suggestion to tame the treble spike and thicken up the midrange, though I go about it a little differently, by substantially cutting the bass on the amp, but not the treble. I usually use the tone knobs for that. One additional factor that might play into the dynamics might be the springs attached to the Tremolo bridge. I think that contributes to the openness of the sound; you can hear tonal differences if you play a hardtail version. A little less airy, but a little more sustain.
Great suggestions! Thank you so much for sharing!
The AM 153 QA is my favorite. I liked the sonics better.
It's a great guitar!
Ben - you need to build your Ibanez signature (or any brand rly) and I will buy!!!
I really appreciate that! Thank you so much, I hope one day soon!
Sweeeegeeezus..................!
😂 thanks Rick!
@@beneunson Sincerely speaking.......u r fantastik....&... I really wish I could have received your techniques in my youth..... Once upon a time I was singing in that band called cacaphony... I did early demo tapes and then at the very end. Signed on right before they broke up.....
Oh yeah ....1 mor thing.... Sweeeegeeezus.............!
Thank you so much Rick, would love to hear your band! I bet it was great
Hi Ben, great video, with two great guitars, and tone. Is there some compression going on there while recording the comparison?
Thanks so much for checking it out, Wil! I didn't add any compression, just a touch of reverb/delay and minimal EQ-ing on the examples. Hope you enjoyed it! 😀
@@beneunson Thanks for the response! I liked the tone of the AM153QA so much I had to get me one. In Europe it wasn't available so ordered it all the way from Japan...
That is fantastic, Wil! It's such a great instrument - would love to hear you playing it!
Tanks
Thanks for watching!
Am153 provides a sound like a solid guitar but a little wider
Very similar to a solid body guitar in many ways! 😀
This video has come at exactly the right time I'm just in the Market for getting a jazz box.
So glad to hear it! The AM2000H is a great guitar for this 😀
Ben which guitar is better
Both are great! I think the AM2000H is a slightly more luxe instrument in certain ways, but I use both guitars and they're excellent! Thanks for watching 😀
@@beneunsonso Am2000h is better
I use tab for the fingering and the musical notation for the timing. The anti tab snobbery among my fellow classical guitarists is tiring. And yes, i play classical and I use tab. Why reinvent the wheel every single time?
Great insight, thanks for sharing! When I studied classical guitar many years ago, I found that scores featuring TAB accompanying the notation helped me understand difficult fingerings with greater ease.
Buttery smooth...sweet tone. Time to shop for one of these models.
Thank you so much! Absolutely, I don't think you'd be disappointed with either of these guitars! 😀
Clean, 97% the same.
Very similar for sure. Thanks for listening!
Great review thank you. MIJ is the way to go imo but the Indonesian 153 is also outstanding and great value. I wish Ibanez offered more pup options, like their super 70s which are hotter but as you roll the volume down you are back to the super58 sound. I think your as50 has V2 pups, which are even hotter than the super 70s.
Love the classic V2 pickups - no one ever mentions them, so I'm glad you did! It's no wonder Ibanez billed the AS50 as "the little screamer" at one point! The MIJ AM2000H is just stunning, but indeed both are amazing instruments. Thanks for watching 😎
Excuse me, which amp do you usually use? I'm considering buying this guitar, I'm a hobbyist and use a Fender Blues junior Lacquered tweed amp with an Ibanez tube screamer single pedal. It's alone around the house. I am a lover of clear sounds. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching! Here are two videos for you: AM153QA played through the Laney LA-Studio: ruclips.net/video/SHSC28W4T-8/видео.html AM153QA played through a small Peavey amp: ruclips.net/video/vrsveLhYCQA/видео.html
What strings do you have on the AM2000H?
I have D'addario 10-46 on both guitars. Thanks for watching!
P.S.: but I still love more your "old" strat sound!
To me the AM153QA is better with distorsion and pedals in general, having a more defined sound. The AM2000H is superior with clean sounds, and gets a bit more muddy with distorsion. ... need both! 😂
Thanks Enrico! Funny you should mention it - I've been using the AM2000H primarily for clean sounds, and the AM153QA for my distortion sounds. I think having both is a great option! 😀
Can’t wait for your ibanez signature.
Thank you so much! One day, fingers crossed 😀
What guitar is that?
Ibanez AM2000H - I discuss it in my latest video: ruclips.net/video/_MrAmz3Rvlw/видео.html
Great video, thank you! Both these quitars sound exquisite to my ear. I have the AM153QA, and I must say I love the Tri-sound switch and use it almost all the time. It makes the tonal range of this instrument surprisingly broad. I do quite a bit of session work and this has become my main instrument for nearly a year now. I get frequent compliments both in studio and on stage for its sonic characteristics and its lack of noise. By the way, I truly love your playing. Cheers!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your insight and your kind words. I agree about the Tri-sound switch (I use it too!) and this guitar is indeed excellent in studio/session settings. Thanks for watching! 😀
